411ARTICLE.COM PRESENTS ITS FIRST EVER SHORT STORY FICTION CONTEST
    PRIZES FIRST PLACE WINNER - US $500.00, publication in, and a copy of the contest's anthology, featured as the First Place Winner.

    SECOND PLACE WINNER - US $250.00, publication in, and a copy of the contest's anthology.

    THIRD PLACE WINNER - US $150.00, publication in, and a copy of the contest's anthology.

    In addition, 22 finalists will be published in, and receive a copy of the contest's anthology.

    All entrants will receive a critique of their entry.

    Contest will begin accepting entries on September 15, 2009 and continue until December 15, 2009.

    Winners will be notified by telephone and or email by January 20, 2010 and the cash awards will be issued at that time. At the end of the Winter contest, the top 3 winners and 22 finalists will be mailed a release form giving 411article.com the rights to publish the short story in an anthology. The author will retain all other rights to their work. The Contest Anthology will be published and awarded as soon as all releases have been signed and returned to 411article.com



    THEME

    The short stories entered into this contest must be fictional. Stories can be from any genre but must have a WINTER SETTING.
    All short stories must be at least 1000 words and no longer than 3000 words.




    PURPOSE

    The purpose of this writing contest is to bring recognition to the 411article.com article directory. It is our hopes, but not a requirement, that entrants will become members and submit their articles to our growing directory. 411article.com is a general purpose article directory designed specifically for authors to promote their online content. We hope to grow into an interactive site where writers of all genres can share experience and critques.

      GUIDELINES
    • The story must be the original work of the author; however, collaborative work of two authors is acceptable when so noted. All entries must be written in English. Translations of other author's works may not be submitted.
    • No previously published work or works forthcoming elsewhere may be submitted.
    • Simultaneous submissions are acceptable; if accepted elsewhere, we ask that they be withdrawn from the contest immediately, but the reading fee is non-refundable.
    • Stories must be at least 1,000 words and may not exceed 3,000 words.
    • Entries must be delivered in the body of an email or attached as a .doc to livewithrichard@aol.com Subject=411article Contest
    • Authors may send as many entries as they wish, but a $15 fee must accompany each submission.
    • Payments must be made only through PayPal to livewithrichard@aol.com and a confirmation email will be sent back to the entrant.
    • Manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced, minimum 12 point type.
    • Author’s names, together with an accurate word count, and the title must appear on the cover sheet only. DO NOT PLACE AUTHOR’S NAME ON THE MANUSCRIPT.
    • Title and page number should appear on each page of the story.
    • Entries will be judged (identities will be concealed) by the editorial staff of 411Article.com
