Berlin is one of the largest and most sought after destinations for the visitors of all over the world during their tour to Germany. Berlin is the capital of Germany which is situated around the river Spree in Bundesland and is a federal state of Brandenburg. Jews were the first settlers of Berlin which arrived about 13th century and they started migrating to the cities of the north till the beginning of the Crusades in 1096. In 1349, entire Europe was swept by the Black Plague and Jews were accused of starting it and hence they were expelled. During frequent expulsion, the Jews of Berlin engaged themselves in money lending and petty trade. By the year 1571, none of the Jews were residing in Berlin for about a century.
Till 1945, Berlin used to be the capital of Prussia and Germany. The city of Berlin has been divided into East Berlin and West Berlin which were divided by the Berlin Wall in 1961 and East Berlin was the capital of The German Democratic Republic. The city has gone through a tremendous change during last century and it results in one of the most exciting, thriving and modern cities of the world. It is a perfect blend of modern architecture, stylish life, exceptional nightlife and very inviting tourism aspect offered by the city. After the reunification, in 1990, it has gone through a massive evolution and evolved as a very surprising, innovative, stunning and promising city of Europe.
One can spot the range of attractions which are catered all around the city along with the historical landmarks such as the German Parliament Building Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate along with Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, fabulous Pergamon Museum and an endless list of striking attractions. The Pergamon Museum accommodates a varied collection of artifacts which reminds the history of ancient world. It also houses the Altar from the Zeus Temple which is one of the most significant archaeological findings. It has antiques from all over the world such as East Asian, Eastern Museum and Islamic Museum. Another historically significant element is Brandenburger Tor which is the only remain gate of a series of entrances into the city. This marvelous structure had been constructed by Carl Gotthard Langhans during the year 1778 and 1791.
Berlin offers a range of great hotels and accommodation that varies from luxury to budget which are conveniently located in and around the city.
